PhD Program

The PhD program in Translation Studies aims to encourage and promote independent research and scholarship in all fields related to translation and interpreting, including theoretical, historical, critical and methodological aspects of the field. One of the main aims of the PhD program is to examine the cultural interaction between Turkey and other cultures through the phenomenon of translation. As research into cultural processes requires an approach that includes disciplines such as sociology, literature, psychology, history, political science, philosophy and cultural studies, the PhD program is designed to offer a multidisciplinary perspective

Candidates for admission must be competent in a third language (in addition to Turkish and English) approved by the Department and must fulfill all other requirements specified in the regulations of the Institute for Graduate Studies in Social Sciences. Students entering the program from outside the Department may be required to take certain prerequisite courses specified by the Department.
